What most inspires the work are natural processes like the food chain and the life cycle. Nature is beautiful and brutal, with a juxtaposition between something both pleasing and uncomfortable. A variety of different textures create a balance between realism and painterly quality, with a mixed media effect. With heavy use of dark and moody colors, pops of vibrancy feel more impactful. Organic forms are used to convey a sense of freedom and impermanence. Many of the works are portraits, placing figures in these cycles of nature to feel connected to the world again.
